About the maker…

Hi everyone, I’m Andrew Bitleris - owner and shaper of Anthem Bodyboards.

My journey with bodyboarding began when I was just 7 years old, after my mom bought me my first Morey Boogie. Atlantic Beach, NC has been my home break ever since, and today I build custom bodyboards right out of my garage.

My fascination with board construction really took off during my college years at UNCW in Wilmington, NC. At the time, I was riding on contract for Custom X Bodyboards, and in 2018 I had the chance to visit PMA at the Custom X factory. That visit gave me a crash course in the fundamentals of board building, and it lit a fire in me.

It wasn’t until 2020 that I fully committed to shaping and began building bodyboards under the Anthem name. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of crafting boards for riders all over the world. I owe a huge thanks to PMA, Marc Rossouw, and Jason Buckmaster — their mentorship and support have been essential to my journey.

Now, five years in, I still love every minute of shaping. There’s something special about the process — using my hands and tools to create something functional and personal. Each time I turn on the lights in my garage "boogie factory," I get to blend precision with creativity, and that’s what makes it all worth it.
